September 2007 | Macroeconomic ForecastsBMI View: The devastation caused by the onset of Hurricane Dean in August has yet to be fully realised, in our view. The costs of a clean-up operation and disruption to local industries are likely to exacerbate the country's economic shortcomings, and potentially hasten the ongoing depreciation of the Jamaican dollar. We are holding onto our end-07 projection of JMD69.8/US$ for now, pending the release of more concrete data on the damage caused to the local economy.
