August 2007 | Risk SummaryChief Minister Dr. Orlando Smith has highlighted three fundamental principals for government policy in 2007: fostering economic growth, strengthening social infrastructure and promoting national pride. To this end, the government has already signed a contract for the construction of a new US$64mn hospital, with the aim of meeting the island's current health needs and accommodating future economic expansion. Other major improvements to the islands' infrastructure include new electrical generators at the BVI Electricity Corporation (which are scheduled to come on line later this year) and a new water treatment facility in Anegada.
