Attending a conference at the National Chamber of Industry, Development and Housing Promotion (CANADEVI), President Felipe Calderón underlined the importance of a national housing strategy, claiming that the country will need to build an additional 650,000 housing units per annum over the next 25 years to deal with the country's changing demographics. These construction needs would, according to Calderón, also stimulate productivity and job creation. The government also intends to play a role in the housing sector.
