Falling Remittance Growth To Weigh On Economy
July 2007 | Economic AnalysisBMI View As we noted in June's Central America Monitor , El Salvadorian remittance growth has shown a declining trend in recent months. Remittances expanded by just 1.6% y-o-y in May, down from 26.7% in 2006, and as such, we have downwardly revised our year-end forecast from 14.0% to 8.0%.
