President Felipe Calderón has described the failure of the US immigration reform as a 'serious mistake', which will re-open the door to the illegal movement of migrant workers across the border. The US congress voted 53 to 46 in June to block a bill which would have potentially allowed 12 million illegals in the US to apply for citizenship. Following this decision, we do not expect any further congressional action until after the 2008 US general elections.
