Getting A Little Closer To Managua
July 2007 | Ratings UpdateCosta Rican and Nicaraguan diplomats met in June to discuss ways of improving conditions for Nicaraguan workers seeking employment in comparatively wealthy Costa Rica. This was the first bilateral summit between the countries since Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega entered office in January. We are encouraged that the countries are still engaging in cordial relations, despite a long-standing territorial dispute, and recent comments by Costa Rican President Óscar Arias that Ortega had demonstrated the wrong foreign policy priorities by visiting the likes of Iran and Libya prior to Costa
