May 2007 | Risk SummaryWith a general election tentatively scheduled for March next year, Prime Minister Said Musa faces an uphill struggle to secure another term in office. According to a local opinion poll undertaken by the Belizean Studies Resource Centre, Musa's approval rating had nosedived to less than 15% by the end of Q107. Conversely, 55% of those surveyed would vote for opposition United Democratic Party (UDP) leader Dean Barrow. As such, it is unsurprising that Barrow is pushing for an early ballot. The government has faced a barrage of criticism as it moves to settle a US$33mn debt for its Universal Health
