The June 2 arrest of four Caribbean men (three Guyanaese and one Trinidadian) in an alleged terrorist plot against JFK airport in New York has put the spotlight on Trinidad in particular, as three of the suspects were arrested and are being held there, pending a likely extradition hearing. The men were allegedly linked by the US FBI to local Muslim group Jamaat Al Muslimeen, although there has been no concrete evidence of any direct involvement by the group or its controversial leader, Imam Yasin Abu Bakr.
