Macroeconomic Forecast Panama
June 2007 | Macroeconomic ForecastsBMI View: Preliminary government estimates indicate that the Panamanian economy expanded by 8.0% y-o-y in Q107. If confirmed, this figure would be very close to the full-year real 2006 GDP reading of 8.1%, and would indicate that the recent trend of strong economic growth in Panama is hardly on the wane. Until a final breakdown of the data is available, we will hold off on reconsidering an upward revision to our year-end 6.6% forecast, but we acknowledge that in the midst of strong global expansion, the risks are to the upside.
