Figures released by the Eastern Caribbean Development Bank (ECCB) for the first three quarters of 2006 show the economy performed well, with economic activity increasing relative to the equivalent 2005 outturn. The bulk of the growth came from increased employment in the government services sector, and to a lesser extent from improvements in agricultural production, which recovered from the effects of unfavourable weather conditions in 2005. Weighing on the growth performance were slowdowns in the construction and tourism sectors.
