The Dominican Republic's political landscape remains extremely stable according to our new short-term political ratings, which gives the country a commendable score of 74.6. Much of the credit must go to President Leonel Fernández and his administration for its role in pulling the country out of the doldrums in the aftermath of 2003's financial crisis and paving the way for political stability. Indeed, Fernández is already clear favourite to secure a third term in office in next year's general election.
