Ever Improving Outlook

May 2007 | Ratings Update

Our short- and long-term political risk ratings have been revised and under our new system, Brazil's short-term political risk rating remained unchanged at 76.9, which reflects a solid short-term political outlook. The more important change however, was in Brazil's long-term political risk rating, increased by seven points to 59, placing it alongside Peru. Having said that, this result is still well below Chile's score of 76.5, considered Latin America's benchmark. Nevertheless we remain very upbeat as Brazil has managed to build a broad coalition government which should be supportive of much needed reform going forward.
