May 2007 | Risk SummaryIn our updated political ratings system, Argentina's score of 70.4 for short-term political risk falls slightly below the Latin American average of 72.5. This mainly reflects the upcoming presidential election (due in October), as certainty about the continuity of policy falls. Furthermore, growing public unrest and widespread scepticism over the validity of inflation data weighs down on Argentina's score. With incumbent Nestor Kirchner expected to comfortably win re-election, we should see this rating rise after the ballot.
