Saca Backs Biofuel

The highly controversial Biofuel agreement between the US and Brazil has been praised by El Salvadorian President Tony Saca. Along with Haiti, the Dominican Republic, and St. Kitts and Nevis, El Salvador will benefit from being part of the programme to produce ethanol, which has drawn criticism from some regional leaders. The plan, which may aggravate staple food shortages in the area, is being pursued despite the condemnation by oil rich Venezuela - testament, perhaps, to El Salvador's strong ties with the US.
