Our short-term political risk rating for Brazil, which reflects in part the smoothness of political succession and the capability of policy-making, has increased by two points from 75 to 77. Indeed, we believe that the government of President Inácio Lula da Silva will have more opportunity to tackle important reforms now that the President has named his ministers.
