April 2007 | Ratings UpdateRecent opinion polls have shown left-of-the-centre candidate Alvaro Colóm is still leading the Guatemalan presidential race. Rigoberta Menchú, aiming to be the first female indigenous president in Latin America was in fourth place in the poll, while Otto Pérez Molina, with his anti-crime rhetoric, and ruling party candidate Alejandro Giammatei were in second and third place respectively. In an earlier poll, again topped by Colóm, Menchú came in second, highlighting the probability of a new ruling party taking the presidency in September's
