Deceptively Impressive?
March 2007 | Economic AnalysisBMI View: Argentina posted a strong primary budget surplus equal to 3.6% of GDP in 2006, continuing a five-year trend of impressive fiscal results. That said, with the government increasing spending rapidly to keep up with surging tax revenues, the risk of running financial difficulties when economic times are not so accommodating remains an important consideration.
