BMI View: The slaying of three El Salvadoran delegates to the Central American parliament in Guatemala City - allegedly committed by Guatemalan police officers on behalf of Central American organised crime groups - could have major implications for the upcoming presidential elections. It serves as a stark reminder to the electorate of Guatemala's crime and corruption problems, and will almost certainly further damage the outgoing administration of President Oscar Berger.
