A Divergence From Washington?

Honduras has resumed normal diplomatic ties with Cuba by sending an ambassador to Havana for the first time in 46 years. The move comes five years after the two countries re-opened diplomatic channels. In our view, this is a further sign that the US may be losing influence in Central America. Honduras has typically been a very close ally of the US, which also severed ties with Cuba in 1961, and which will likely be chagrined by Honduras' decision.
