Less Support In The Senate
March 2007 | Ratings UpdateThe withdrawal of Nelson Jobim from the race for the presidency of the PMDB may weaken President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva's support base in the Senate. Jobim was a key ally of Lula, ensuring that PMDB senators helped offset the opposition parties in the senate. Now that Jobim has pulled out, we are unsure as to whether Lula will still receive the same levels of support. This event is further complicated by the fact that Lula still has to name his own cabinet. We are concerned that Lula will have to assign more positions for the PMDB in order
