The Banco Central de Costa Rica estimated in February that real GDP rose by 7.9% in 2006, which would be the fastest rate of growth in seven years. With GDP data from the first three quarters of 2006 in hand (at 8.2%), we have decided to increase our estimate for last year's expansion from 6.5% to 7.8%.
