Economic Slowdown Underway In 2007

BMI View: Despite a higher-than-expected outturn in 2006, the Mexican economy started to lose steam in the final three months of last year - forewarning a downturn in growth in 2007. While BMI believes that a correction in growth this year is likely, the fundamental macro picture remains relatively sanguine. Our end-2007 forecast currently stands at 3.6% (in line with official government projections).
