We believe that Premier Ewart Brown of the ruling Progressive Labour Party (PLP) may take advantage of the fact that the opposition United Bermuda Party (UBP) is politically divided in order to call an early election. The UBP - which governed the country for 30 years after universal suffrage was introduced - was thrown into political disarray when its chairwoman, Gwyneth Rawlins, resigned in protest of the alleged manipulation of the UBP by the Bermudian elite.
