Another Innings For BLP?
February 2007 | Risk SummaryThe ruling Barbados Labour Party (BLP) has yet to announce the date for general elections, due by 2008 at the latest. It seems likely that the government is keen to oversee a successful hosting of the Cricket World Cup, with the hope of riding to another victory on the back of a 'feel-good' honeymoon period after the tournament. We believe the expected timing of the vote puts the BLP as firm favourites to remain in power, and thus expect our short-term political risk rating to remain high in regional terms.
