BMI View: Remittances sent home from El Salvadoreans working overseas shattered another record in 2006, coming in at US$3.32bn, up from US$2.83bn in 2005. Remittance flows appeared to be accelerating toward the end of the year, with the 12-month moving average increase rising from 10% y-o-y in January 2006 to 17% y-o-y by year-end.
