February 2007 | Ratings UpdateGuatemala holds national elections on November 1, 2007, in which the presidency and the unicameral legislature are up for grabs. President Óscar Berger's ruling GANA coalition is facing tremendous internal strife, and it appears that the party's chances of winning are remote at best (Berger cannot run for re-election). No incumbent party has won a majority in two consecutive general elections since democracy was reinstated twenty years ago.
