February 2007 | Macroeconomic ForecastsOur forecast for Costa Rican exports in 2006 turned out to be precisely on target, at US$8.22bn. Imports in 2006 came in slightly lower than we had anticipated (US$11.52bn, versus our call of US$11.79bn), mostly a result of the sharp drop in global oil prices between August and November. In 2007, we anticipate further growth in exports, to US$9.0bn, although this is slightly less ambitious than President Óscar Arias' vision of a US$10bn figure this year.
