Paris Club Prepayment On The Cards?
December 2006 | Market StrategyAccording to Argentina's Economy Ministry, the government sent a letter to the Paris Club, stating its desire to start formal talks before the end of 2006 with regards to the prepayment of the country's outstanding debt of US$6.3bn. While the government has already held informal discussions with the Club, no date for formal negotiations has been made public so far. The announcement came two weeks after the Argentine government agreed at the 16th Iberoamerican Summit to pay back US$960mn to the government of Spain - a member of the Paris Club- by the end of 2012.
