December 2006 | Ratings UpdateThe Trinidad and Tobago National Gas Company (NGC) is still waiting for the final approval of the Barbados government needed for the construction of a gas pipeline between the two islands. Once completed, the pipeline would supply Barbados with more than 2.83mm3 of natural gas per day, which would be mainly used for power generation. While the construction is likely to put further pressure on the government fiscal deficit, the pipeline would considerably reduce the island's costs of gas imports.
