Former military ruler Augusto Pinochet, who is 91 years old, recently sufferedanother heart attack, which landed him in serious condition after surgery. This occurred just a week after he was placed under house arrest and puts into doubt whether the dozens of human rights abuses and tax fraudcases against him will ever be concluded. Even if Pinochet were to recover fully, we do not think that he would necessarily face a trial.
