November 2006 | Macroeconomic ForecastsThe merchandise trade surplus amounted to US$895mn in September, decreasing by 8.8% y-o-y (down from a 1.1% y-o-y increase in 2005). Although the surplus declined on an annual basis, the trade balance is still looking healthy and is supported by strong export growth. Indeed, in September, exports experienced the strongest growth rate of 2006 so far, rising by 17.9% y-o-y (up 15.2% y-o-y in 2005).
