Guyana's main opposition party, the People's National Congress Reform (PNCR), has challenged President Jagdeo's decision on 28 September to convene parliament, the first session after its suspension on 2 May. Despite a ruling of the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ) in favour of the session, the PNCR stressed that the action was unconstitutional and that it will appeal. As specified by the Guyana Constitution, in case of a suspension, the first parliamentary session must occur within the following four month, therefore setting the latest possible date for 2 September.
