Corruption is the most pressing problem facing the Peruvian justice system and has allegedly even penetrated the highest levels of the judiciary. As such, new and extreme measures may be introduced in order to abate the spread of corruption. Congressman Edgar Nunez presented a motion, which calls for those judges involved in corruption to resign unconditionally from their positions. This has led several Peruvians to believe that judicial reform is the only solution, and have included calls by members of the National Magistrates Council, to reduce the number of Supreme Court Judges.
