October 2006 | Macroeconomic ForecastsInterest rates, which had been on the rise partly due to market uncertainty resulting from the presidential election earlier this year, have been left unchanged during the past five months. As such, the benign inflationary environment, coupled with a stronger sol prompted the Central Bank to keep its benchmark lending rate unchanged from its four year high of 4.50%.
