US Fence Gets Go-Ahead
October 2006 | Ratings UpdateUS President George W Bush has signed a controversial bill to finance the erection of a 700-mile fence along the Mexican border, in an effort to curb illegal immigration. BMI considers this move to be a blow for the outgoing Fox government, which had focussed its foreign policy objectives on persuading the US Congress to soften immigration laws.
