Barbados has appointed a new ambassador to the Caribbean Community (Caricom). John Williams, the former minister of state, has replaced former ambassador Nigel Barrow. In a conference at Caricom headquarters, Williams pledged the support of Barbados to regional development goals and stressed his support for a regional development fund to accompany the creation of the Caricom Single Market and Economy (CSME). The fund, he stressed, is the key mechanism through which intra-regional economic imbalances can be addressed.
