Macroeconomic Forecast Dominican Republic
June 2006 | Macroeconomic ForecastsBMI View: The economy grew by 12.6% y-o-y in Q106. Growth was led by construction, up 31.8% y-o-y; communications, up 30.3% y-o-y; and public administration, which expanded by 21.3% y-o-y. Gross fixed capital formation was up by 26.5% y-o-y, while foreign direct investment was up 6.0% y-o-y. This is a wholly favourable picture, and reinforces our positive view on the economy, which is bouncing back strongly from the economic travails of 2003-4 following the collapse of the banking system. We expect a healthy full-year out-turn of 5.0% y-o-y.
