Speaking at the 67th annual Barbados Labour Party (BLP) conference in November, Prime Minister Owen Arthur announced that he would soon renounce some of his ministerial responsibilities as part of a cabinet reshuffle to be announced soon. Prime minister since 1994, Arthur also currently serves as minister of finance and economic affairs, and as minister for the civil service, as well as spearheading efforts with the Caribbean Community and Common Market (CARICOM) for the implementation of the CARICOM Single Market and Economy (CSME).
