July 2006 | Ratings UpdateAt the end of June, government forces captured Arnulfo Vanegas, a prominent leader of the Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia (FARC) in Caquetá. This followed the killing of Juan Carlos, a member of the FARC's 25-member command group. These successes came at a crucial time - the military's reputation and morale has suffered recently after a number of soldiers were implicated in the assassination of ten special anti-narcotics policemen.
