The Lavagna Compromise?

Former economy minister Roberto Lavagna, widely credited with Argentina's impressive economic recovery, has entered the political spotlight after publicly criticising government policies and meeting with various opposition members. Lavagna, whose independence in an increasingly homogeneous government eventually led to his dismissal, recently criticised the price control agreements and beef export ban of the Kirchner government. Lavagna has also met with various members of the opposition, including former president Raúl Alsonsín of the Unión Cívica Radical (UCR) and several Peronists still loyal to ex-president Eduardo Duhalde.
