As an internal election to select the next leader of the ruling Colorado party approaches, the battle between supporters and opponents of the president’s re-election bid is heating up. The opposition recently lost a vote in the chamber of deputies that would have initiated impeachment proceedings against President Duarte. 39 deputies voted against the proposal and 37 voted for, well short of the two thirds majority (53 of 80 total deputies) needed to legitimate impeachment
