Despite coming to an agreement on wage increases with the government, secretary general of Argentina's labour confederation, Hugo Moyano, decided to go ahead with a general strike in late June. Moyano had helped the country's truckers' union win a 25.5% increase for its members, but still opted to call for a general day of mobilization and strike action. We see this as another sign that relations between the Argentine authorities and the trade unions are becoming increasingly antagonistic.
