The Chilean government appears to be increasingly frustrated by activities of neighbouring governments, following comments in mid-June by senior government officials. Defence Minister Andrés Allamand claimed on television on June 14 that Peruvian officials had been 'harassing' members of the Chilean government, and on the same day Foreign Minister Alfredo Moreno criticized Bolivian President Evo Morales for his comments about the ongoing border dispute between the two countries. While we do not anticipate a significant escalation of tensions between these countries, we expect tensions to persist.
