BMI View: Argentina's foreign exchange reserves increased by 1.2% m-o-m in April to US$47.8bn, but remained well below the peak of US$52.1bn reached in May 2011. While negative for the country's overall investment climate, the protectionist policies implemented by the government in recent months might succeed in curbing dollar outflows in the short term, posing downside risk to our 2012 foreign reserve forecast of US$38bn.
