May 2012 | Ratings UpdateIn line with the recent downward revision to Panama's short-term political risk ratings, we have also opted to revise down our long-term risk ratings, on the back of increasing question marks over the credibility of the country's political institutions under President Ricardo Martinelli's tenure. Our downward revision to the 'characteristics of polity' subcomponent sees the country's structural risk rating fall to 67.9 out of 100, the first time it has dropped below the 70 mark since 2010.
