May 2012 | Risk SummaryIn late April Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa announced six changes to his cabinet, in what appears to be a response to protests by indigenous groups, which marched on the capital to complain about what they see as the government's pro-mining stance. However, despite these moves we still believe that there is little credible opposition to Correa, and with his popularity currently standing around 80% according to recent polls, we believe he is highly likely to seek re-election in the February 2013 general elections.
