Panama's consumer price index (CPI) increased slightly in February to 6.4% y-o-y from the 6.1% recorded the month prior. We had initially called for inflation to moderate slightly in 2012, from an average of 5.9% in 2011 to 5.7%. However, with the US Federal Reserve having stated its intention to keep rates on hold through 2012, we note upside risk to our view for inflation in this dollarised economy in the form of severely elevated Brent crude prices.
