BMI View: After holding interest rates at 5.25% for six consecutive months, the Chilean central bank eased monetary policy in January, cutting its benchmark policy rate by 25bps to 5.00%. While the cut is in line with our forecasts, its timing, combined with the central bank's growing concerns over the economic outlook for the Chilean economy, pose downside risk to out 5.0% interest rate forecast for end-2012.
