Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega will be inaugurated to a third term on January 10, and according to local news reports, the President is polling relatively well. Results of a poll conducted by M&R Consultants show that 63% of Nicaraguans responded that Ortega is a democratic leader and almost 69% of the population answered that the popular will was respected during the November general election. Though Ortega's pro-business policies should foster investment in the coming years, any government attempts to consolidate power further could cause us to revise down the country's political outlook.
