Trinidad and Tobago (T&T)'s President Kamla Persad-Bissessar has revealed that in early November police forces thwarted a plot to assassinate her and several members of her cabinet. According to Persad-Bissessar the plot was a form of retaliation by criminal groups to the state of emergency and curfew she declared on August 21. The measures, which are due to expire on December 5, are part of a government campaign to crack down on criminal activities related to drug gangs. Persad-Bissessar said she is not going to extent the emergency measures beyond their due date, in line with the advice she received
